Sahara Briscoe is the principle of Super String Theory Design a commission studio that designs, develops, and fabricates yarns and textiles, for diverse applications with a focus on internal assurance.
As an internationally renowned textile developer and fabricator for close to three decades, Sahara has engaged in a wide spectrum of textile-related activities from curating fiber art shows to costume design for theater, product development for fashion houses, plus writing about art fabrics for magazines and her own blog.
Textiles developed and produced by Sahara have been shown at the 2010 Shanghai World’s Fair, the Stedelijk Museum, The Netherlands and in galleries in New York, Dublin, London, Amsterdam, and Sweden.
Designer Statement:
From conception to completion, my coverlets, throws, and accessories are intentionally designed to offer both bodily comfort and protection of the spirit, essential for our serenity and renewal.
I use heirloom quality natural materials and time-honored techniques, reflective of my cultural background. My textiles have what I call an “agelessly modern” aesthetic, that are beyond trend.
